Just an overview before I post Halle's work in progress (WIP) from that day: I brought three giddy children, all clutching clipboards and pencils, to the counter to order their treats for the morning, then we made our way to the comfy couches and settled in. The kids took turns reading their writings: Lily read her Harris Burdick story, Halle read a new poem and the beginning of Lord of the Necklaces, and Wes let us look through his companion guide to LOTN.
We gave a soft round of applause to each writer, then gave feedback with a statement of something from the writing that stood out to us. Finally, I brought out my stack of Harris Burdick pictures for our writing exploration. I just wanted to familiarize the kids with one of our new prompts - and they're so fun! The kids each chose a picture with a headline (used as a story title) and a caption (used as the first line) and wrote for 10 minutes. Lily dictated to me, Halle typed away on my laptop, and Wes just put pencil to paper and wrote!
Halle wants to share her WIP from the day, Mr. Linden's Library. Enjoy!
He had warned her about the book. Now it was too late.
"Where is she Frank? Is she still in there?" asked Stan.
"I do not know, but it's probably the book," answered Frank. He did warn her. "Well I’m going in to find out." Frank started to the door.
"No!" yelled Stan . But his warning was too late. As soon the door opened Frank fell unconscious.
... to be continued!

Halle's WIP makes me very intrigued and I want to read more.
